The BEST way to solve our problems is to face them. Problems are nothing different from brutes who try to bully us.
We all have problems and most of the time it is pretty comfortable to curse/run away from the problem or we tend to avoid the situation itself which is causing the problem even at the cost of wonderful opportunity
Only a man of confidence can convert challenge into opportunity – Swami Vivekanada
Face the Brutes
These lines are by Swami Vivekanada (I am not modifying any of those inorder to retain its beauty) Once when I was in Varanasi, I was passing through a place where there was a large tank of water on one side and a high wall on the other. It was in the grounds where there were many monkeys. The monkeys of Varanasi are huge brutes and are sometimes surly. They now took it into their heads not to allow me to pass through their street, so they howled and shrieked and clutched at my feet as I passed. As they passed closer, I began to run, but the faster I ran, the faster came the monkeys and they began to bite at me. It seemed impossible to escape, but just then I met a stranger who called out to me, ‘Face the brutes ‘. I turned and faced the monkeys, and they finally fell back and finally fled. That is a lesson for all life – face the terrible, face it boldly.
When I have first read the above story it had a strong impression on me and whenever I felt any problem trying to punch me I remembered ‘Face the brutes’ and went head on head to face the punch … Guess what most of the times the problem fled away but though it punched me sometimes I was able to withstand it & ended in victory.
We know that it is difficult to jump like the person next but if we can give a try then will either fall or win but fearing fall if you don’t give a try we will fall & fail by default. As it is said – All failures are experiences and all success’ are History let’s give it a try and have some experiences for us to strengthen our courage so that one day we will make history.
Head on Head
Norman Vincent Peale also narrates this beautifully in the book the The power of plus factor, ”
If we go in detail into the history we see that Civilizations which are considered to be great have not become great just like that – If you consider Greek civilization when they were challenged by Persians they have faced the challenge Head on Head (Similar to the one described in the movie ‘300’ ) and their faith in rising against the challenge has given them the key to unfold the secrets of earth & universe in areas Science, Art, Literature. … ”
He also quotes that ” Some break in trouble while some break Records”.
Then let us go ahead and break the records instead of breaking ourselves.
Just like the person surfing in the photograph if we can use the problem to our benefit then we can use the force of the problem to reach our destination easily.
Facing problems is similar to facing the people who are trying to screw us, the only way to tackle them is to face them. Politely confront the people are creating problems for you and they will not at all come in your way. I will conclude this post a beautiful set of lines from Norman Vincent Peale :
It’s easy to cry that you’re beaten and die;
It’s easy to crawfish and crawl;
But to fight and to fight
When hope’s out of sight
Why, that is the best game of all.
And though you come out of each grueling bout
All broken and beaten and scarred –
Just have one more try. It’s dead easy to die;
It’s the keeping on living that’s hard.
